We are now legally bound to charge 10p for plastic carrier bags when purchases are made in the shop.
The single-use carrier bag charge, which has seen a 95% cut in plastic bag sales in major supermarkets since 2015, has been extended to all businesses in England from 21st May to help drive down sales further.
We are fully behind this initiative as it clearly has a positive impact on the environment and would urge all customers to have a bag with them when visiting the shop, so that we do not need to make this charge when a purchase is made. We would also point out that we sell reusable Crash tote bags in 3 different colours and they are capable of holding a decent amount of LPs and CDs.
However, if all else fails and a bag is required, 10p will be added to the amount you pay at the till. At the end of every 3 month period throughout the year, we will work out how many carrier bags have been sold and the money raised will be donated to a charity of our choice.
