Description
The second release is the absolute classic “Telegram Sam”, originally released in January 1972, effectively a preview of the forthcoming album “The Slider”, and these days amongst Marc Bolan’s best remembered songs.
It was the band’s third UK number 1, where it stayed for two weeks (spending fourteen weeks in the charts in total). It knocked The New Seekers’ “I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing” off the top spot, and was itself replaced by Chicory Tip’s “Son Of My Father”, producer Giorgio Moroder’s first UK hit.
